Description:
Statewide gathering of ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) nurses from 11 California Chapters aimed at equipping oncology nurses with the skills needed to advocate for patients with cancer and those at high risk of developing cancer. This is a non-partisan event offering mentorship and education regarding health policy and government relations. As subject matter experts, oncology nurses are poised to be advocates for their patients and the profession. Their voices and experiences must be heard where decisions are being made and laws written that are translated into practice and cancer care delivery.

Learning Objectives
After Attending this Activity, Learners Should be Able to:
1. Review how nurse involvement in legislative processes is associated with improved community health, cancer prevention, access to advanced cancer treatments and care for patients and caregivers.
2. Support advocacy efforts for two-three identified key issues in oncology care currently on the docket for review and vote in the state legislature.
