Wendy Nuval Bacerra, RN, MSN, JD is an Oncology Nurse Navigator with AccessHope and President-Elect of the Orange County Oncology Nursing Society. She has over 8 years of experience as an oncology nurse, including on the acute care oncology floor, radiation oncology, and infusion center, and helped establish thoracic navigation and lung cancer screening programs at two major Southern California hospitals. Wendy earned her BS and MS in nursing from Cal State Fullerton in 2015. Prior to this, as nursing is her second career, she received her BA in English at UCLA and her law degree from Loyola Law School, then practiced 8 years as an attorney. She loves being a nurse as it has given her the opportunity to care for others, enjoy fellowship with nurses and other staff, and pursue advocacy, which is turning out to be a passion of hers. She served as her chapter’s representative to ONS DC Advocacy Days in 2022, where she met many of the nurses on the Planning Committee of this inaugural CA ONS Advocacy Summit. In her free time, Wendy enjoys traveling and volunteering with the Santa Ana Elks Lodge #794, where she serves as the Government Affairs Chair and Scholarship Committee Secretary. She also supports her husband, Phil Bacerra, in his role as Santa Ana City Councilmember. They enjoy living in south Santa Ana with their 2-year-old labradoodle, Stanley Pup.
