Despite advances in the treatment of suicidal behavior, many physicians remain reluctant to engage such patients and apply evidence supported recommendations. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment modality for treating many mental health disorders. CBT is considered a best practice in addressing self-harm as it offers a offers a comprehensive, evidence-based approach that addresses the root psychological factors contributing to suicidal behavior.
