0462_SHSO_Sleep Optimization, ADHD and Performance_Live
Description:
Sleep is important for cognitive health and performance, and sleep deprivation can have negative effects on many cognitive areas. Inconsistent sleep patterns and delayed sleep timing have been linked to poor cognitive function. Lack of quality sleep can lead to symptoms associated with ADHD, such as trouble focusing or irritability. There is a strong overlap between sleep apnea and ADHD, and the two conditions can increase symptoms in one another. This MHAC grand rounds lecture will target sleep optimization, correlation between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), long term mental health impact, screening methods and treatment options for the patient and families suffering from inadequate sleep patterns.
