The Year-in-Review highlights the most influential delirium research published in the last 12-18 months. The primary purpose of this activity is to disseminate new knowledge gained through current research. The secondary purpose includes the facilitation of discussion intended to promote clinical advances through a change in clinician behaviors, improved collaboration among various disciplines or healthcare roles (i.e., established or early career researchers as well as acute, post-acute or community clinicians), and improved patient or population outcomes. Topics for this session include:

• Neuronal injury and progressive cognitive impairment

• Deep Learning–Based Recurrent Delirium Prediction

• Biomarkers associated with postoperative delirium

• Medicare costs associated with delirium

• Long-term cognitive trajectory after postoperative delirium

• Determinants of delirium severity

• Haloperidol for the Treatment of Delirium

• Effect of early mobilization on long-term cognitive impairment

4. Compare results of studies evaluating outcomes associated with use of haloperidol.

5. Reflect on findings of studies evaluating the impact of Medicare costs associated with delirium.
