Course Description:
Principles & Practice of Clinician Leadership 2 (PPCL2) offers hands-on, practical skill development for high-potential, established physician and advanced practice clinician leaders with at least 6 months experience in their current leadership role. Completion of PPCL1 (formerly IPAL) is a prerequisite for this program. This program further develops the skills and mindset that are essential to effective leadership of interprofessional teams and working groups. The program aims to prepare leaders to utilize skills in emotional intelligence (EQ), communication, change management, and influence as they move a self-selected project toward a desired outcome. In addition, the program incorporates mindfulness and reflection activities to help participants combat burn-out for themselves and the teams they lead.

Learning Objectives
Session One Learning Objectives:
1) Discuss application of Growth Mindset to this program and beyond.
2) Identify how a mindful approach to leadership can improve effectiveness.
3) Summarize the Results Pyramid and the association with effectively leading change.
4) Recognize the business case for Emotional Intelligence (EQ) along with how the 4 quadrants of EQ (Self-Awareness, Social Awareness, Self-Management, Relationship Mangement) increases individuals' awareness of EQ strengths and opportunities.
5) Apply project plan framework to design of the self-selected project.
Session Two Learning Objectives:
1) Integrate mindfulness into leadership practice.
2) Implement use of change management tools and models to manage resistance during change leadership.
3) Utilize the influence framework to build professional relationships in effective leadership.
4) Summarize importance of and utilization of skill model to giving and receiving feedback.
5) Identify and design strategies to overcome obstacles to achieving project plan results.
6) Apply coaching skills to leadership of team and coaching partners.
7) Identify areas of target growth for critical leadership skills using an Individualized Development Plan.
Session Three Learning Objectives:
1) Identify leadership skills participants will start, stop, and improve.
2) Demonstrate use of leadership skills through experimental learning activity.
3) Discuss insights gained as a result of delivering and observing program project presentations.
