Dr. Charu Puri is a practicing board-certified hospitalist, President of the Medical Staff for Alta Bates Summit Medical Center (ABSMC) – Summit Campus, and Director of Onboarding, Mentoring, and Leadership Development at Sutter East Bay Medical Group (SEBMG) in Oakland, California. Previously, she worked as a Physician Informaticist for 10 years; she resigned this role once she became the President of Medical Staff. 

Dr. Puri completed her BS in Physiological Sciences at UCLA and her Medical Degree from St. George’s University, School of Medicine. She has completed several leadership courses through Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) and Sutter Health University. She is also certified as a LEAN leader through Rona Consulting.

Dr. Puri has been serving on the SEBMG Finance Committee since 2019. In February 2022, she became a board member of the ABSMC/SEBMF Philanthropy Board, which is responsible for raising and allocating funds to support and enhance patient care in the East Bay community. In January 2023, she became an executive board member of the SHM San Francisco Bay Area Chapter.
