Robert Nordgren
Rob Nordgren, MD, MBA, MPH Chief Medical Officer, Greater San Francisco Market Sutter Health Rob Nordgren is the Chief Medical Officer for the Greater San Francisco Market of Sutter Health. In this role he leads teams and collaborates across acute and ambulatory settings in San Francisco and the North Bay. Prior to this role Rob served as Area CEO for Sutter Bay Medical Foundation and from 2015-2020 was CEO of the Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group Prior to these roles, Dr. Nordgren served as Executive Director of Child Health Services (CHS) in Manchester, New Hampshire from 2000 to 2007. While at CHS, it was named “New Hampshire Health Care Business of the Year” by NH Business Magazine and the Business and Industry Association. Dr. Nordgren was also appointed by Governor John Lynch in 2005 to be the Co-Chair of New Hampshire’s Citizen’s Health Initiative. From 2007 to 2010 Dr. Nordgren served as Associate Medical Director of Dartmouth Hitchcock Health’s Manchester location. In 2010, Rob became the first CEO of Northeast Medical Group (NEMG), the medical foundation for the Yale New Haven Health System. Dr. Nordgren was a Senior Vice President at Yale New Haven Health and CEO of NEMG from 2010-2015. Under Dr. Nordgren’s leadership NEMG grew to over 600 providers across Connecticut and into Westchester County, New York. Dr. Nordgren received his undergraduate degree at Williams College in Massachusetts where he was a religion major and a competitive cross-country skier. He attended medical school at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. While in medical school Dr. Nordgren also earned his MPH from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Nordgren did his pediatric Internship, Residency and Chief Residency at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. In 2012 he earned his MBA from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts. Over the years, Dr. Nordgren has served on numerous community boards. He currently serves as a board member of the Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative. He is also a 2020 graduate of the American Leadership Forum, Silicon Valley Chapter. Rob has significant experience in public speaking, writing and public relations. Rob lives with his wife, Dr. Julia Nordgren- a pediatrician and chef, drjuliacooks.com- and their two boys, Andrew (19) and Benjamin (17). Rob enjoys riding his mountain bike, playing his guitar, reading history and watching his boys play sports.
