Alyssa Avila is a PGY-2 Pharmacist Resident in Critical Care at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) located in Pomona, CA to deepen her clinical expertise and provide comfort and care for her patients and impact the lives of those who need it the most.  Before PVHMC, she was a PGY-1 Pharmacist Resident at Antelope Valley Medical Center where she built a strong clinical foundation in areas of acute care, developed a protocol on the safe use of 3% hypertonic saline for patients with hyponatremia.

Alyssa is a graduate from Adams State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She went on to do her pre-pharmacy studies at California State University, Los Angeles, ultimately leading her to Keck Graduate Institute’s School of Pharmacy where she earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree with a concentration in Medication Therapy Outcomes in 2022. During her graduate years she was an intern pharmacist at Riverside University Health Systems Medical Center where she gained exposure in the emergency department and developed a long lasting interest in the critical patient.  

Aside from her PGY-2, you can find Alyssa spending quality time with her family and friends or reading a new novel. She was also a collegiate athlete in cross country and track and field, so you can often find her outside running the streets of Claremont.
