Graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Worked in public health nursing in Fairfax County Virginia from 1992 to 2005. Moved back to California and has worked in childhood lead poisoning prevention for Alameda County since 2005. Certified in community health nursing by the American Nurses Association.
