Jesse Jung, MD

Dr. Jung graduated with College Honors and received his B.A. in biology and psychology at Washington University in St. Louis; and completed his medical school training and graduated Magna Cum Laude and Alpha Omega Alpha at Emory University School of Medicine. After completing a transitional internship at Emory University School of Medicine, he completed his Ophthalmology residency and was Chief Resident during his final year of residency at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital/New York University School of Medicine. He completed his vitreoretinal fellowship at the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons/Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York/Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital under the renowned mentorship of Drs. Stanley Chang and Lawrence Yannuzzi.
He is Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) and an Oral Board Examiner for the ABO and holds active memberships in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Retina Society, and the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He has also received several awards including Alpha Omega Alpha, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Member in Training Outstanding Poster in Retina in 2014, the University of San Francisco California Dept. of Ophthalmology Frederick C. Cordes Eye Society’s Crowell Beard Teaching Award in 2017 and the American Society is Retina Specialist 2018 Honor Award. In addition to publishing over 60 peer-reviewed scientific articles, Dr. Jung has also authored and edited various medical textbook chapters and journals.
His current research interests include the use of intravitreal anti-VEGF for the treatment of macular diseases, surgical treatment of retinal diseases, age-related macular degeneration, inflammatory eye diseases and the use of multimodal imaging including fundus photography and angiography, autofluorescence, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and OCT angiography in the imaging of retinal vascular diseases.
