Dr. Tamika Bailey is a hospitalist physician at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center (ABSMC) in Berkeley and Oakland. She came to ABSMC straight from her internal medicine residency at UCSF in 2013. For the first 7 years of her hospitalist career she worked as a nocturnist, admitting new patients from the emergency department and cross-covering sick patients on the medical floors. She has a strong commitment to continuous learning and used this passion to coordinate journal clubs and lead a group of hospitalists in the creation of educational reviews to help standardize care for the 20 most common hospital diagnoses. She has been an active member of the medical staff at ABSMC, serving as member-at-large on the Medical Executive Committee for 2 years. She also contributed her time to the Hospitalist Advisory Committe of the Sutter East Bay Medical Group for 3 years. Dr. Bailey has a special place in her heart for older patients that inspired her to complete a geriatrics fellowship at UCSF in 2022. She is now a board-certified geriatrician working to improve safety and quality for hospitalized older patients. She will be a core faculty member of the new Internal Medicine residency program at Summit Hospital, teaching residents on the medical wards and coordinating the geriatrics curriculum.
