Anu Kirupananthan, AGACNP-BC is a passionate geriatric clinician, educator, and data-scientist at California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC). A native of Sri Lanka, she holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania in Nursing and Economics, with a focus in Healthcare Management & Policy, and Finance.

She is dedicated to reducing healthcare inequity.  In her 20s she helped propel LifeNet International from a 3-nurse training organization in rural Burundi, to a 28-clinic training program, with a self-sustaining pharmaceutical distribution arm.  It is now a non-profit that stretches across 6 countries in central and Eastern Africa.

She has spent the last decade at CPMC working on improving delirium management and care for seniors. She led the efforts to shape policy and culture at CPMC to be the first site at Sutter Health to reach Age Friendly Health System designation. Today she is the Sutter AFHS Co-lead, Nurse Practitioner for the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) which she helped gain recognition as a Center of Excellence, and the Geriatric Education Supervisor for the Internal Medicine Residency. She also mentors sites looking to enhance their geriatric care and leads the Geriatric Coordinating Council. She has authored several studies including a 2020 study on 30 day re-admission reduction using HELP. 

In her spare time, she fights crime, city bureaucracy or the mess left behind by her two kids. She led efforts to improve Willow Park in West Oakland, from a center of illegal activities to a community revitalizing playground. She has piloted efforts to plant trees in under-resourced communities, and is currently working on improving East Bay lighting to improve street safety.
