Dr. Laurie Gregg is Chief Wellness Officer for Sutter Independent Physicians (SIP) and Medical Director of Wellness for Sutter Medical Center Sacramento. She has lead well-being efforts through the Sutter System Joy of Work Initiative for the last 4 years . In her various administrative roles, she has instituted an organizational focus on well-being that includes individual monitoring of burnout, education on ways to change the medical system to prevent burnout, and creation of programs that build community and collegiality within medicine. In addition to leveraging a formalized peer support program to support health professionals facing stressors at her hospital and health system, she was instrumental in launching a national peer support network OB/GYNs across the country. She lead the effort to have Sutter Independent Physicians be recognized by the American Medical Association for the group's well-being work. She has presented wellness and well-being research at the international and national level and continues to find innovative ways of helping physicians stay within a profession that took so much training to enter. Outside of her well-being work, she practices inpatient and outpatient OB/Gyn, and enjoys time with her family, friends and dogs.
