Greater Sacramento Market Chief Medical Officer, Sutter Health

As Chief Medical Officer of Sutter Health’s Greater Sacramento Market, Dr. Hull provides administrative guidance and support to the medical staff and augments communication between hospital administrators and physicians, as well as improving the safety and quality of care at the seven acute hospitals and several ASCs in the Sacramento market.  He continues to be integral to the development of several residency programs.

Previously, Dr. Hull served in various leadership positions at Sutter Roseville Medical Center for 25+ years – most recently as Sutter Roseville Medical Center’s Chief Medical Executive and Interim Chief Executive Officer. He first joined the medical staff at Sutter Roseville as an Emergency Medicine physician in 1996 and served as Medical Director of the Emergency Department from 2004 to 2014. At Sutter Roseville, Dr. Hull has served as the Chair of the Emergency Department and the departments of Medicine and Quality, has served as Chief of Staff, and worked in the Emergency Department for 26 years. He also served as a clinical instructor in emergency medicine at UC Davis Medical Center. Dr. Hull is a member of the Sutter Valley Hospital Board of Directors – a role he has held for a decade with functions including chairing the Board, the Medical Affairs Committee and the Research and Education Committee.

In addition to numerous non-Sutter Affiliated trainings, through SHU, Dr. Hull completed MCE in 2010, LeaderLab in 2012, Leadership Academy in 2013 and Executive Development for Physicians in 2018

Dr. Hull earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Washington University in St. Louis and medical degree from the University of Illinois. After a year as a surgical intern, he completed his emergency medicine residency at the University of Illinois. Dr. Hull is a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physician and continues to practice in the ER at SRMC.
