Audrey Tio, MD, MHA, was appointed Chief Medical Officer, Network Performance Management in July 2023. In this role, Audrey brings her experience as a collaborative physician executive to lead the enhancement of a culture of physician engagement, accountability and shared responsibility for providing maximum patient safety, quality and equity of care. In her dyad role with Todd Smith, she will lead development of the SHN to bring further value to patients, clinicians and payers. She will oversee the Clinical Practice Committees’ development of clinical pathways in partnership with other SHN executive leaders as well as clinical service line leads.

Dr. Tio is a board-certified internist with over 20 years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She currently serves as the Medical Director for Accountable Care at Gould Medical Group in the Central Valley, overseeing the care of approximately 54,000 Sutter value-based program patients. Dr. Tio has held various leadership positions in primary care, hospital medicine, utilization management and informatics. She was appointed Chief Medical Officer for Sutter Medicare Direct in 2021, focusing on improving health outcomes through deeper patient relationships. She holds a medical degree from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center, San Antonio and a master’s degree in Health Care Administration. Dr. Tio practices medicine in Modesto and is passionate about providing compassionate care and implementing Lean principles to enhance patient and clinician experiences.
