0206_SHVGR_ Emerging Pathogen Threats_Live
While there are regularly updated guidelines and recommendations available for treatment of infectious diseases, many facilities and providers still fall short of providing the most up-to-date care for patients due to their lack of knowledge of these updates. Bridging the education and evidence gap to health care providers has shown increased understanding of treatments, implementation of best practice actions and appropriate medications, and can reduce the rapid spread of threatening diseases. Presenters will share updated guidelines for treatments and actions for fast spreading infectious diseases.

Learning Objectives
After attending these sessions, learners should be able to:
• List antimicrobial-resistant infections increasingly identified in hospitals and communities.
• Examine new guidelines for diagnosing and treating antibiotic-resistant gonorrhea.
• Discuss Candida auris, including diagnostic screening, isolation to prevent spread, and antifungal treatment’s high failure risk.
• Appraise newer antibiotics for Gram-negative bacteria and their differing utility for multidrug-resistant organisms (MRDOs).
