Jose Chavez is a doctoral prepared Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He is a CNS over the Cardiac Medical Intensive Care Unit and Cardiac Step-Down Unit. He has been a nurse for 14 years, he was a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy Nurse Corps Reserves as a Critical Care Nurse from 2012 to 2020. He is an active member and serves on committees of NACNS, AACN and SCCM. He was designated Associate of American College of Cardiology in 2018 and recipient of the 2022 President’s Award at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and 2022 recipient of President’s citation award for Society of Critical Care Medicine. He is a Beacon reviewer for AACN and a reviewer for American Journal of Nursing. He has authored articles published in peer-reviewed journals and is the author of the heart failure chapter in the first certification book for Clinical Nurse Specialists.
