This course is designed for RNs seeking to build or enhance a solid understanding of basic cardiac rhythm analysis. Participants will explore the fundamental principles of ECG interpretation, focusing on the identification and understanding of common cardiac rhythms. Through a blend of theoretical instruction and practical exercises, learners will gain the skills necessary to recognize key components of an ECG waveform, identify normal and abnormal rhythms, and understand the implications of these rhythms in a clinical context.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:

1.) Identify basic and advanced cardiac rhythms, including normal sinus rhythm, atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and heart blocks
2.) Assess appropriate interventions (e.g., medication administration, calling for immediate provider assistance, initiating ACLS protocols)
3.) Understand the role of electrolyte imbalances on cardiac rhythms and their basic manifestations on the ECG.
