Description
The Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group (PAFMG) Leadership Summit will explore the intersection of leadership, performance, and continuous improvement in healthcare. The workshop aims to enhance participants' ability to lead change, foster innovation, and drive operational excellence. Through interactive discussions, real-time polling, and reflective activities, the workshop will address key topics such as the "performance paradox," the role of mindset in leadership, and strategies for cultivating a growth mindset within teams. Participants will learn to distinguish different types of mistakes, develop systems and habits for learning, and model effective learning behaviors. With a focus on creating psychological safety, engaging in the Learning Zone, and driving sustainable growth, the workshop will equip leaders with actionable strategies to foster continuous improvement in their teams and organizations. The session will culminate in individual action planning, enabling leaders to leave inspired and ready to implement their new insights immediately.

Learning Objectives
After completing this course, learners will be able to:
• Discover the performance paradox and explore ways in which individuals and teams might be stuck in chronic performance.
• Distinguish among four kinds of mistakes and their different implications for the workplace and leadership: stretch, high-stakes, aha-moment, and sloppy mistakes. Discuss examples of each within Sutter and PAFMG and consider potential changes in behaviors.
• Reflect and discuss ways to take action as Sutter and PAFMG leaders, such as by framing intentionally and explicitly, cultivating systems and habits for learning and performance (including for collaboration across groups), and visibly modeling learning behaviors, and explore what these strategies could look like at Sutter and PAFMG.
• Learn how to foster a growth mindset, continuous learning, and innovation by habituating and systematizing behaviors and structures for improvement and performance (“Learning Zone” and “Performance Zone”).
• Make progress in normalizing learning behaviors and in aligning as a leadership team.
