0422_ABSMC_NRAB: Motor and Cognitive Deficits in Cerebellar Degeneration_ Live
Description:
The NRAB (Neuroscience Research Around the Bay) is a quarterly educational series. The third quarter's session will review current hypotheses concerning the role of the cerebellum in the coordination of movement and thought. It will draw on research involving various methods of cognitive neuroscience with a focus on neuropsychological studies involving patients with degenerative disorders of the cerebellum.
Target Audience
Physicians (MD or DO)
Other Healthcare Professionals
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to:
1. Discuss evidence pointing to the functional contribution of the cerebellum to cognition.
2. Illustrate how the cerebellum supports coordinated movement by anticipating the sensory consequence of action.
3. Discuss how researchers seek to extend these ideas to understand how the cerebellum supports cognition.
