Description
Many clinicians who support healthcare education haven't had the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills to effectively facilitate a learning activity. Facilitation involves helping individuals or a group to work together constructively, by creating a supportive and productive environment and assisting in the decision-making process. Without a fundamental understanding of how to facilitate, many seeking to become educators will struggle to overcome particular challenges posed by the group, or individuals, necessary to create an environment conducive to change. Further, facilitation in healthcare education is an implementation strategy that supports people in health services organizations develop the means to change the structure and processes within settings to help reduce the gap between evidence and practice.
