0406_Sutter Health Neurosciences Grand Rounds_Focused Ultrasound_Live
Description:
Focused ultrasound (FUS) is an exciting new treatment for patients with certain neurological disorders, including Parkinson's disease. Focused ultrasound is non-invasive. It does not require additional adjustments and creates a permanent change. Patients who receive FUS can go home the same day after surgery as well. This treatment was FDA-approved for patients with essential tremor in 2016, and now this pivotal trial has led to FDA-approval of focused ultrasound ablation to treat dyskinesia and motor impairment in Parkinson’ disease. This Neurosciences Grand Rounds lecture will serve to educate clinicians who treat Parkinson's patients on the scope, technical foundation, and clinical application of FUS in neurosurgery.
Target Audience
Physicians (MD or DO)
Psychologists
Other Healthcare Professionals
