September 7, 2024 to September 8, 2024

Synergy Summit Description:

The Covid-19 pandemic, which began four years ago, has led to significant physical and mental burnout among healthcare workers. Despite the industry’s recovery, burnout persists due to factors such as resource shortages, insufficient education on best practices, unsustainable workloads, and a lack of support systems. Burnout can negatively impact patient care by reducing the quality of interactions between healthcare providers and patients, leading to poorer communication, loss of pertinent information, and increased likelihood of errors. This PAMF retreat offers a platform for physicians and healthcare providers to engage in educational medical activities, fostering a sense of community and belonging with the ultimate aim to improve patient care and satisfaction. A keynote address on “Transformative Care” will be featured along with various breakout sessions that will cover topics including virtual reality to reduce clinician burnout, wellbeing, cancer care, integrative medicine, narrative medicine, environmental health, and the link between fermented foods and a healthier gut microbiome. These educational activities are aimed to educate our healthcare providers and better equip them to educate their patients, empowering them with knowledge about their health conditions and treatments.

Presentation Description:

This session provides a detailed exploration of guided imagery as a therapeutic tool in patient care. Participants will begin by analyzing the historical development and clinical integration of guided imagery, tracing its progression from early conceptual uses to its establishment as a scientifically validated practice in modern medicine. The session will then focus on evaluating the efficacy of guided imagery across various medical conditions. By reviewing and synthesizing relevant scientific literature and clinical studies, attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of how guided imagery can positively impact patient outcomes and enhance therapeutic interventions. To bridge theory with practice, participants will engage in a group-guided imagery session. This hands-on component will apply evidence-based techniques, allowing attendees to experience and assess the practical applications of guided imagery. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped with both the knowledge and skills to incorporate guided imagery effectively into their clinical practice, aiming to improve patient care and achieve better health outcomes.
