The PAFMG Leader As Coach program is designed to provide leaders with a solid understanding of what leadership coaching is, why it is a critical leadership skill and the key skills needed to successfully coach your direct reports. Using videos, partner / small group exercises and real-life scenarios, participants will have the opportunity to practice the skills and increase their comfort level in applying them with their team members.
Program Goals:
• Learn about the GROW coaching model
• Understand and apply the following key coaching skills:
-> Listening to Understand – Stingy vs. Generous Listening
-> Asking Powerful Questions – Advocacy vs. Inquiry, Broadening vs. Deepening Questions
-> Challenging & Supporting – Growth Mindset, Psychological Safety, Diversity of Ideas, 5:1 Feedback
• Real-time practice of applying the GROW model to your coaching interactions
• Provide ongoing support for application of coaching skills

Learning Objectives
Part 1– Reflection Before Leading as Coach
• Define coaching and its benefits for collaboration and results-orientation
• Identify a working model of coaching and the four core skills required
• Assess your comfort and current level of ability in the four core skill areas
Part 2 – Skill Building and Practice to Lead as Coach
• Active listening – Understand the power of active listening on both the speaker and the listener
• Inquiry vs. Advocacy – Understand the learning advantage and the emotional benefits of asking powerful questions
• Giving feedback – Improve your ability to give effective feedback and your own openness to receiving feedback
• Accountability – Learn how effective coaching enables an environment of mutual accountability where colleagues support each other in achieving shared goals
• Application – Increase your confidence in applying these coaching skills through practice and take the initial steps to invite coaching readiness among your team
