April 8, 2024

Staying abreast of current guidelines and evidence-based practices to improve the quality of care is an important component of optimizing patient outcomes. The Journal Club is an opportunity for the primary care team to learn about the newest and most recent developments in the sub-specialty clinical space. This journal club is open to interprofessional team members across Sutter Health which fosters collaborative discussion of primary care best practices among a diverse group of local experts to promote rapid application of the latest evidence-based clinical information. April's journal club will focus on Epilepsy and anti-seizure medications. This will be a three-part presentation. The first section will be a general review of epilepsy and seizure disorders, the second will be a review of anti-seizure medications meant to improve medication selection, and the third section will be a review of the journal article, which is a comprehensive meta-analysis of the efficacy and tolerability of five of the newest anti-seizure medications.
