Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of morbidity worldwide and the leading cause of death for men, women, and people of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States. One person dies every 33 seconds in the United States from cardiovascular disease. This activity aims to bring the primary care team up to date on current preventive cardiology guidelines, recommendations and algorithms for early detection of cardiovascular disease and risk factors.

Learning Objectives

After Attending this Activity, Learners Should be Able to

Evaluate the value of preventative cardiology in reducing morbidity and mortality as well as promoting health equity.

2. Discuss current clinical best practices in preventative cardiology.

3. Review new preventative cardiology resources to apply evidenced-based approaches and work as a cohesive team to detect cardiovascular risk factors early so as to prevent heart disease in our patient population.
