0236_SHSO_Workforce Effectiveness Training for Leaders_Live - 10/22/2024 Virtual Class
Nurse leaders often report feeling unprepared for the complexity of the role and unsupported (Weaver Moor & Sublett et al., 2016) this in a setting where nursing leadership has been shown to positively impact patient outcomes (Wong, 2015). The American Association for Nursing Leadership (AONL) has developed core leadership domains and competencies that nurses can operationalize in their areas to be successful (Hughes Meadows et al., 2022). One of the domains, business skills and principles, is critical to nurses impacting healthcare systems, patient safety outcomes, and the cost of care (Raftery Sassenberg et al., 2021). This presentation focuses on workforce effectiveness including labor productivity, tools and methodologies for setting appropriate labor budgets, and how to prepare for position control and labor variance reporting in order to meet Sutter Health's goals in patient access, safety, and affordability.
