Description:
Free smoking quit lines and the associated resources have limited efficacy to promote smoking cessation when compared to individualized care or behavioral therapy. Presenters will share the evidence base for first line pharmacotherapy and behavior therapy for smoking cessation as it relates to both e-cigarettes (or vaping) and cigarettes to promote increased provider competence to develop individualized plans of care for smokers interested in smoking cessation.

Learning Objectives
After attending these sessions, learners should be able to:
• Discuss prevalence and concerns related to e-cigarettes or "vaping".
• Utilize behavior therapy (recommend minimum of 10 minutes per session, for at least four sessions) as a strategy which has shown to significantly improve smoking cessation outcomes in combination with pharmacotherapy.
• Apply best practice recommendations for smoking cessation pharmacotherapy including use of oral medications and nicotine replacement therapies.
