Course Description:

Insomnia is one of most common sleep disorders which can be treated as effectively or better with non-pharmacological strategies such as CBT-I when compared to hypnotic medicines. Many healthcare professionals report having limited knowledge of the 84 known sleep disorders and healthcare professionals themselves are especially at risk of developing a sleep disorder, due to intrinsic or extrinsic factors including shift work or job-related stress, that could in turn impair patient safety. This is indicative of a significant need for education on non-pharmacological strategies to improve sleep quality. This presentation will cover how health care professionals can promote strategies, for themselves or their patients, to ensure sufficient sleep duration and quality to avoid risks associated with sleep deprivation.
