Course Description: 

Are all medications elderly patients take necessary? Is there value in deprescribing medications for older aged individuals and is it beneficial to patient? This presentation addresses some of these fundamental questions and addresses challenges health care providers might face when deprescribing. Identification of strategies to implement beneficial deprescribing will also be discussed.

• Summarize goal of deprescribing and how it may benefit older aged patients and their families

. • Identify evidence-based strategies to deprescribe commonly used drug classes in older aged populations such as statins, antihypertensives, aspirin, and PPIs.

• Integrate these deprescribing strategies into clinical practice.
