Course Description:

The No Surprises Act (NSA), implemented in January 2022 by CMS, is designed to minimize any kind of surprise billing to patients obtained from medical services outside of their health insurance network. This presentation provides learners how to identify scenarios that might trigger NSA as well as provides a forum to discuss solutions for incorporating these requirements into practice.

After completing this course, learners should be able to:

• Identify scenarios that trigger the No Surprises Act (NSA): Emergency, out-of-network nonemergency, and self-pay (uninsured) care.

• Describe when NSA requires estimates before a procedure and how estimates differ depending on the scenario.

• Review current NSA litigation. • Discuss solutions for incorporating NSA into practice.
