Course Description
This course will provide an overview of postpartum psychiatric disorders including mood and anxiety disorders and postpartum PTSD. Evidence based practices for treatment and identification will be discussed. Attendees will learn how childbirth can be a traumatic experience and how to identify and reduce the risk of PTSD.

Learning Objectives
After completion of this course, learners will be able to:
1. Summarize the prevalence and significance of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs).
2. Explain how the birth experience can be traumatic and lead to PMADS.
3. Apply best practice recommendations minimize risk for Postpartum PTSD.
4. Demonstrate the ability to evaluate for PMADs, engage in shared decision making related to treatment options, and collaborative teamwork in order to lessen the likelihood of trauma.
