Course Description:
Alcohol Use Disorder is a medical condition, of varying severity, characterized by an impaired ability to stop or control alcohol use. This presentation will review several aspects of unhealthy drinking including epidemiology, mechanisms and effects, assessment and diagnosis, treatment, and strategies to manage withdrawal.

• Describe the rising burden of alcohol-related harm in the United States.
• Assess screening and diagnostic tools for alcohol use.
• Identify medications for alcohol use disorder to match patient goals and comorbidities.
• Review inpatient and outpatient withdrawal management.
