Course Description
Narrative medicine is an approach to healthcare that emphasizes the importance of listening to and understanding patients' stories in clinical practice. It recognizes that patients' experiences and perspectives are valuable sources of information that can help healthcare providers to provide better care. According to Columbia University, narrative medicine “fortifies clinical practice with the narrative competence to recognize, absorb, metabolize, interpret, and be moved by the stories of illness.” Thus this presentation seeks to help clinicians improve the accuracy of diagnosis as well as to better identify and meet patient needs through application of a narrative medicine approach.
