This course is designed to educate the emergency nurse in Emergency Severity Index (ESI) triage. At the completion of this activity, participants will have the information they need to be able to properly triage patients in the emergency department.

Learning Objectives
1) Identify resources for the ESI algorithm.
2) Summarize the three major criteria for ESI level 2 as well as patients who require up-triage to ESI level 2 based on vital sign criteria.
3) Select immediate lifesaving interventions as defined by the ESI algorithm.
4) Apply the ESI algorithm to patient case study scenarios and select patients who require up-triage to ESI level 2 based on vital sign criteria.
