Kevin Walsh, MD completed medical school at UCSF and residency at UC Davis in Primary Care Internal Medicine. He then practiced for 30 years at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Sacramento, CA. After providing primary care to a diverse population of patients for 10 years, he spent the final 20 years of his career at Kaiser practicing Addiction Medicine. A significant part of his practice involved caring for complex patients with chronic pain and opioid dependency, and he helped develop the Kaiser North Valley Opioid Safety Program. In addition to his clinical work, he served as his facility’s Chief of Physician Health & Wellness from 2000 - 2006, and was the physician lead for the Kaiser North Valley Communication Skills Training Program. In 2010, he was awarded the Morris Cullen Award for Teaching Excellence in Continuing Medical Education at Kaiser Northern California for teaching a wide array of courses on Communication, Addiction Medicine, Pain Management, and Physician Wellness. Prior to his retirement from Kaiser, he became a Certified Mindfulness Teacher through the Mindful Life Program and later became a Certified Coach and Facilitator for the ACT/Prosocial Matrix. He continues to work as a coach and facilitator, and also works with patients as a mindfulness instructor at Diamond House Rehabilitation Center.
