Fran Krieger-Lowitz, Ph.D., CGP, M.Ed.
I graduated from The Wright Institute in 1982 where I received my doctoral degree and have been a Licensed Clinical Psychologist since 1984. I was a research associate at Stanford University, Laboratory for the Study of Behavioral Medicine, where I completed my research on "Demographic and Clinical Features in Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia." In 1982, I created the Eating Disorders Clinic at Herrick Hospital, Berkeley, where I treated individuals, groups, and families. I was the clinical consultant on eating disorders at Walnut Creek Psychiatric Hospital. I have lectured and taught extensively on this topic and have been in private practice for 42 years specializing in women's issues. In addition to psychodynamic psychotherapy, I incorporate mindfulness, breathing and movement into my work, emphasizing the mind-body connection. In my free time I am passionate about dancing, singing, and political discourse. I look forward to the opportunity to participate on the Psychiatry Planning Committee.
