Lee Anne Wong, M.D.
I am a mom, pediatrician and Medical Director of Recruitment, Retention, and Leadership Development for Sutter Medical Group. I am committed to the growth and development of people.
I believe that if we invite a clinician to join Sutter Medical Group (SMG) it is our responsibility to provide the education, resources, and support for them to grow and develop in their practice and enjoy a long and successful career in SMG.
In my current leadership role, I support recruitment, clinician orientation, onboarding, retention and mentoring; our Shareholder Transition Committee, Advanced Practice Clinician Section and leaders, and leadership development including design and delivery of training, leader coaching, and our formal Talent Review and Succession Planning Program. I work closely with the Sutter Health University (SHU) team and clinician leaders across Sutter Health to develop and deliver the SHU Signature Clinician Leadership Development programs.
I am a member of the Valley Foundation Leadership Team (VFLT). I partner with Mike Marino, VP HR Sutter Health Foundations, to lead the VFLT Leadership Development strategic initiative to identify core leadership behaviors and skills that foundation and medical group leaders must possess and provide the necessary support, resources, and training so they can be effective in their roles. To that end, we launched the Your Leadership Matters newsletter in September 2021 which offers leadership tips, resources, and inspiration. It is now distributed across Sutter Health in outpatient and inpatient areas. We will create clear expectations and a roadmap for leaders to grow in their roles, so they can deliver the necessary support, development and care for their people. Our leaders can create the psychological safety and Joy in Work we need to provide excellent care to our patients.
I am grateful for the many people I have encountered and opportunities I have enjoyed in my tenure in Sutter Medical Group. We have amazing people in SMG and throughout Sutter Health who have been generous in sharing their time, knowledge, and expertise in a variety of collaborations and in supporting my own growth and development. It has truly been a pleasure to contribute to the evolution of SMG. I look forward to supporting our people as we navigate the future and create the culture and organization where we all have opportunities to grow, develop, and contribute to the health of the communities we serve.
