As a result of participation in this activity, learners should be able to:
1. Analyze contemporary surgical approaches for the treatment of coronary artery disease and valvular dysfunction, aiming to improve patient outcomes and reduce surgical risks.
2. Compare the latest advancements, techniques, and clinical outcomes in mechanical circulatory support, including the use of ventricular assist devices (VADs) and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), with an emphasis on patient selection, management, and long-term care and how these enhance key quality measures from STS.
3. Evaluate case studies that examine current surgical interventions for atrial fibrillation, focusing on MAZE and new technology for PVI and LAA, and the management of complex cases, with the goal of enhancing procedural success, reducing recurrence rates, and post-operative complications.
