Hina Faisal, MD; MRCS
Hina Faisal, M.D., MRCS., is an assistant professor of Clinical Anesthesiology, Surgery, and Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital. Her primary research interest areas are delirium and pain. She is particularly interested in applying innovative technology and interventions to prevent delirium and the mechanism involved in developing delirium in the elderly surgical population. Other works focus on opioid-sparing analgesia medications, actions, interactions, adverse events, and outcomes. Dr. Faisal holds an M.B.B.S. from Dow University of Health Science, Karachi, Pakistan. Dr. Faisal did basic surgical training at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and a few years of surgery residency at the Department of Surgery, University of Tennessee College of Medicine, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Due to much interest in critical care, she changed her career to Anesthesia and then completed her anesthesiology residency at Case Western Reserve University (MetroHealth) Program, Cleveland, Ohio. After residency, she completed an Anesthesia Critical Care Medicine fellowship at the University of Texas Houston- McGovern Medical School. Dr. Faisal has received the Reliant Innovation Award, Grant for Early Medical / Surgical Specialist Transition to Aging Research (GEMSSTAR)- R03 award -National Institute of Health and Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research-GEMSSTAR Award. Dr. Faisal is a member of the American Board of Anesthesiologists and the American Medical Association. Dr. Faisal also serves on various medical and surgical committees at Houston Methodist Hospital and the national committee-Critical Care Medicine Exam Committee, The American Board of Anesthesiology, and a reviewer position at the American College of Surgeon Journal, Reviewer A.C.S. Case Reviews in Surgery. Her other interest is reading, writing, cooking, singing, and gardening. She speaks English, Urdu, and Tourist Arabic.
