Dr. Marcos Lopez is an anesthesiologist, intensivist, and physician-scientist who studies vascular dysfunction as a mechanism of organ injury in patients undergoing major surgery. He has identified associations between vascular dysfunction and brain dysfunction and is now conducting a clinical trial examining the effects of a soluble guanylyl cyclase stimulator on vascular function and markers of organ injury in cardiac surgery. He is a passionate educator and currently serves as Associate Program Director for the Vanderbilt Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine Fellowship.
