Susana Vacas, MD, PhD is a Neuroanesthesiologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. She completed her postdoctoral work at the University of California, San Francisco, where her research focused on the underlying mechanisms and risk factors of Perioperative Neurocognitive Disorders. She has successfully secured funding from multiple philanthropic and institutional awards, including the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Vacas seeks to improve Perioperative Brain Health and overall patient outcomes after surgery. Her work uses emerging technologies to improve patient outcomes, whether through innovative benchwork techniques, the creation of molecular targets, extensive cognitive assessment models, or new MRI tools.
