Dr. Borchers is working as a consultant of anesthesiology and intensive care medicine at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany. He is member of Prof. Claudia Spies' research group on delirium and cognitive impairment after surgery and intensive care treatment. In his work he focuses on the implementation of research algorithms to define perioperative neurocognitive disorders into clinical practice. Within an ongoing innovation fund project to assess the effect of prehabilitation on long term outcome after elective surgery in geriatric patients he is responsible for shared decision making between the patients, their families, and the interprofessional treatment teams.
