Eyal Kimchi, MD, PhD
I am a neuroscientist and clinically active neurologist at Northwestern University. I lead translational research on the brain networks and dynamic rhythms that support clear thinking, with a commitment to understanding and improving the care of patients with acute disorders of awareness, such as delirium. Our translational approach to acute cognition is rooted in systems neuroscience, united by a focus on the physiologic and pathophysiologic processes affecting cognitive networks. At the lab bench, our basic science research examines the real-time influences of neuromodulators on neural network interactions in the context of motivated, perceptual behavior. We extend this work to the bedside through clinical research into the development of novel biomarkers to understand acute and dynamic brain states, with the goal of improving patient care.
