Cheryl Chia-Hui Chen, RN, DNSc
Cheryl Chia-Hui Chen is a Professor of Nursing and Associate Dean for International Affairs at the National Taiwan University College of Medicine. She also has a joint appointment at National Taiwan University Hospital as the Deputy Director of Nursing. Prof. Chen holds a doctorate in Nursing Science from the Yale University. As a gerontological nurse practitioner, her research focuses on the management of common geriatric syndromes and hospital-associated functional decline. She works collaboratively with multidisciplinary researchers and consults nationally and internationally with various providers. She is a recipient of several research awards, including a National Research Service Award from the US National Institutes of Health, Anthony DiGuida Delta Mu Research Prize from Yale University, and the Green Apricot Award from the National Taiwan University College of Medicine.
Prof. Chen has been building on her research findings by examining whether a nurse-driven, modified Hospital Elder Life Program reduces delirium, frailty, and length of hospital stay for older patients including those who received mechanical ventilation and got admitted to the intensive care units. Her work has been published in the high impact journals including JAMA Network Open, JAMA Surgery, Critical Care, Journal of the American Geriatric Society, and International Journal of Nursing Studies.
