Alan Pan
Alan Pan is a health data scientist at Houston Methodist Hospital as well as a doctoral student with the McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics at UTHealth. His work has primarily focused on research applications across intersecting domains of health informatics, cerebrovascular disease, neurocritical care, and population health. Among his current projects includes development of a research framework for evaluating post-acute transitions of care and better understanding the health trajectories that stroke survivors experience during their recovery and rehabilitation. He is also interested in the broader goal of harnessing research, informatics, and technology to guide innovative strategies for bridging traditional gaps in patient-centered health systems redesign.
Prior to his transition into healthcare, Alan earned his Master of Science in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and also holds an undergraduate degree in neurobiology. As part of the Data & Statistical Sciences organization at AbbVie, he served as the clinical trials analyst for multiple neurology, virology, and women’s health studies – a role in which he helped guide insights in health data analytics, patient safety and outcomes, as well as data management.
