Description:
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of severe lower respiratory tract disease, especially in young children. Despite its global impact on healthcare, related to its high prevalence and its association with significant morbidity, the current therapy is still mostly supportive (Gatt et al., 2023). This presentation will address foundational understanding of RSV therapeutic prescribing, appraise the social determinants of vaccine uptake including barriers to vaccination, discuss equity promoting strategies when prioritizing a limited supply of medication, and review provider best practices in discussing with patients about the importance of vaccination in infection prevention.
