Description: 

The All-Division Orthopedic Department Meeting is a biannual meeting of every orthopedic physician across PAMF. Each meeting includes a 1-hour educational session on emerging topics or case-based discussions to meet the educational needs of attendees to address challenging orthopedic conditions and discuss recent advances in orthopedic treatments. During these sessions, several different surgeons present complex or interesting cases and review them in the context of new advances in orthopedics related to the following: Dupuytrens disease, periprosthetic fracture management, risks and benefits of sodium hyaluronate use for rotator cuff tendonopathy, and alternatives to corticosteroids for bursitis.

Learning Objectives

Learning Objectives for the Presentation on Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyalgan) and Rotator Cuff Tendonopathy:

1) Evaluate the risks and benefits associated with potential use of Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyalgan) for management of rotator cuff tendonopathy.

Learning Objectives for the Presentation on Dupuytren's Disease:

1) Review the basic pathophysiology of Dupuytren's disease.

2) Discuss the most common treatments for Dupuytren's disease and identify which patients might benefit from them.

3) Apply criteria for urgent referral to a hand surgeon vs. provide reassurance to a patient not requiring urgent intervention.

Learning Objectives for the Presentation on Periprosthetic Fracture Management:

1) Review treatment options for periprosthetic fractures around the knee.

2) Discuss surgical planning for periprosthetic fractures around the knee.

3) Evaluate the risk and benefits associated with each treatment option.

Learning Objectives for the Presentation titled Ketorolac, Alternative to Corticosteroids?:

1) Critically analyze the data for Ketorolac in orthopedics for both intra-articular use and for bursitis.
