She has been the lead organizer for many community education events. One of these is the Pediatric Diabetes Seminar, which focuses on managing diabetes in the hospital and school setting. This seminar has been very well received and is typically held every other year with revised and updated content for the learner. We have been providing this seminar for 20 years with many returning attendees. She has also been a speaker at national and local diabetes events including AADE (American Association of Diabetes Educators) and TCOYD (Taking Care of Your Diabetes).
Her goal in her career is to help as many children with diabetes as she can to manage their diabetes as easy as possible, while being healthy, maintaining a balance in life. She does this personally as their nurse but also as a coach and mentor to others that touch their lives. As a person who experiences type 1 diabetes herself she is very passionate about this goal.
